In the Kindergarten room at FiRST Early Learning
we support the children to develop:

Sound social skills:

Confidence (independence) in self-help routines:

  • Being able to go to the toilet and change clothing be themselves
  • Looking after their clothing, shoes and socks throughout the day
  • Packing up their bag at the end of the day

Communication skills:

  • Listening to others
  • Following instructions
  • Asking for help
  • Speaking clearly in grammatically correct sentences
  • Using appropriate word to share ideas and feelings

A good grasp of problem solving skills:

A brief overview of the Yearly Educational Program:

Term 1

Focusing on:

  • Colours
  • Begin to recognise their own name
  • Animals
  • Plants
  • Seasons, Weather
  • Begin to play board games in small groups

Term 3

Focusing on:

  • Numbers
  • Living and Non-living
  • Learning About plants (and planting and taking care of our own)
  • Continents, countries
  • Different languages and traditional games, song from different cultures
  • Developing pre- writing skills

Term 2

Focusing on:

  • Shapes
  • Categorise animals into mammals, birds, reptiles, etc
  • Cooking experiences
  • Begin to trace our own name
  • Experiencing special art techniques ( clay, plaster)
  • Introducing “being the special helper “responsibility to children

Term 4

Focusing on:

  • Letters and sounds
  • Human body and how some body parts function
  • Healthy lifestyle
  • Graduation night preparation

Please note all of the topics above are touched on consistently throughout the year, although these guidelines show when they will be delivered based on children’s skills and developmental stage.
